Mission Statement
The Hillsboro Pre-K Program is dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging early learning environment where every child can grow socially, emotionally, physically, and academically. Through developmentally appropriate practices and strong family partnerships, we strive to build a foundation that prepares all children for future school success and fosters a lifelong love of learning.
Program Goals
1. Support the Whole Child
Provide experiences that promote social–emotional development, early literacy and math readiness, physical growth, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
2. Foster a Safe and Welcoming Environment
Ensure all children feel valued, included, and supported through positive interactions, consistent routines, and a caring classroom community.
3. Build Strong Family Partnerships
Encourage open communication and collaboration with families, recognizing them as a child’s first and most important teachers.
4. Encourage Curiosity and Exploration
Use hands-on, play-based learning to spark curiosity, imagination, and confidence in every child.
5. Prepare Children for Kindergarten Success
Align instruction with Illinois Early Learning Standards to help each child develop the skills, independence, and readiness needed for a smooth transition to kindergarten.
6. Promote Respect and Responsibility
Model and teach kindness, cooperation, and respect for self and others, building a strong character foundation.
